Eureka Junior High: 1915 J St.

Ruth, Mike and I all attended Eureka Junior High School.

Junior high was three years, 7-9, and high school was three years, 10-12.
Me, I attended the Junior High for five years.
On the first day of my Junior year in high school, there was an earthquake.
The senior high building was badly damaged and had to be condemmed.
School temporarily closed.  They decided to move the senior high into the junior high building.
So I attended my last two years of senior high in the junior high building.

Eureka Senior High: We three oldest siblings all attended and graduated from Eureka Senior High.

From what I can tell, they have combined the junior high and senior high into a central complex of buildings.
When we get up there, maybe we can tell what is where.
The main building is still the same as the original junior high that became the senior high.

It is a wonderful building with a large auditorium / theater complete with theater style seats and a large stage with curtains and everythning.
This is the rectangular building in the top center of the satellite photo below.

Eureka High was an open campus.  We could leave during the one-hour lunch as long as we got back in time.
There were two places each within a block that got absolutely mobbed at lunch.
When we were older, we'd often go to Mike's the Hamburger King during lunch.

Humboldt State College: I attended HSC for three years. There's a description on the Arcata Page
